About this book

First published in 1933 under the pen name Clifford Moore, Mrs. Chatterley's Second Lover was the result of an innovative idea at the time, namely the continuation of a notorious, but banned at the time of its publication, interwar novel - Mrs. Chatterley's Lover by D. H. Lawrence. Because he saw in that novel a literary revolution, "a poetic monument without a match, among the grimaces, anecdotes, petty pornography and pitiful sarcasms that in literature for centuries distort the divine gesture of love", Felix Aderca was punished with prison, during which time he wrote this book, a novel about the passionate love of a woman, in a permanent search for happiness. The novel is a savory creation, which surprises us with innovation and spicy details, disregarding sexual or social conventions, and captivates us, at the same time, through each tab that describes the healing power of carnal love.
