About this book
The fairy of the mountains is a story written by Petre Ispirescu about an emperor who had a son famous for his cleverness and kindness. After the king's son cannot catch the turtledove in which the Fairy of the mountains was transformed while hunting, she becomes a hen at the emperor's court, conquering everyone at court with her diligence and modesty. Then, at the weddings of the neighboring emperors, the clever boy fell in love with the High Fairy who gave up her power to rule happily on the royal throne until a very old age. Published for the first time in 1872, Zâna Zorilor by Ioan Slavici is a story about the good deeds of a fairy who changed the destiny of three brothers, Florea, Costan and the youngest Petru, all three sons of the emperor. In order to heal his father, the emperor who laughs with one eye and cries with the other, Peter will have to reach the land of the Dawn Fairy, where the sky falls to earth and the stars talk to the flowers. Thus, Petru, helped by his horse Murgul, will have to pass through the windy forests and through the sometimes frozen, sometimes scorching lands at the edge of the world to bring the healing water from the well of the Dawn Fairy.
