A versatile writer: novelist, dramatist, memoirist, essayist, researcher in the field of folklore and ethnology, journalist (editor of the magazine Lupta. The Fight, in the United States, but also a contributor to exile magazines - especially to Origini, published by the poet Gabriel Stănescu), Constantin Eretescu is a well-known and recognized personality not only among specialists, but also among readers of fiction literature (novels, short stories, plays). or of the memorial volumes (Periscop, Pensiunea Dina, Turnul de veghe – I, II, III, IV) Scientific researcher at the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore of the Romanian Academy (when he was in Romania), professor at the Rhode Island School of Design (in the United States), Constantin Eretescu is at the same time a writer whose life experience has become emblematic for the Romanian intellectual forced by the totalitarian regime to leave his country. Therefore, in the volume we dedicate to him, we include the chronicles and the interview, all of which are a (modest) tribute, a sign of full admiration for the man of great culture, the versatile writer and researcher Constantin Eretescu.
