Jacques André was born in 1951, in a village in the Alps and lives in Lyon (France). After learning Greek and Latin in a Jesuit college, he graduated from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lyon. He first worked as a typographer, later becoming a publisher, founding the Jacques André Éditeur publishing house, best known for its edited volumes of poetry. A complex writer, Jacques André tackled several literary genres: prose, poetry and theater. He published, under the pseudonym Adam Katzmann, the following novels: Leçons de ténèbres et de lumière (2004), La partie de Mah-Jong de l'empereur (2005), Perce-Brume (2006), Le Massacre (2006), Le Harcèlement chez les bonobos (2007). He has also published the volumes of verse L'homme revient (2018) under the pen name Adam Katzmann and Description de la nuit ou les jours terribles (2020) under the pen name Jack O' Flanaghan. He is, together with the Ardelean School Publishing House, the co-editor of the entire poetic work of Lucian Blaga in French, translated by Jean Poncet. The novel The Emperor's Game of Mah-Jong appeared in 2020, at the Aius publishing house in Craiova, also translated by Aurora Dumitrescu. "I am Adam, a dog without a past, before the events.
