A young researcher at the National Institute for the Study of Totalitarianism, Ana-Maria Rădulescu brings to the public's attention 46 Orthodox clerics originally from Dolj county or settled here, who ended up in communist prisons and endured the persecution of the communist regime. We are reading an objective analysis, based on documents, of the era of the communist totalitarian regime that marked Romania for almost half a century. In order to eliminate as much confusion as possible and to ensure a more exhaustive presentation of the Orthodox clergy victims of the communist regime, I think it is necessary to identify and study them in alphabetical order, taking into account, first of all, the geographical criterion, their distribution by county. As far as Dolj county is concerned, this way of presentation allows the researcher to better understand the extent and permanence of the repression exercised on the Orthodox Church by the atheist communist regime until December 1989, in a geographical area where other confessions and national minorities were poorly or not at all represented.
