Despre modestie

The volume About modesty is made up entirely of the post-war publicity published in the newspaper "Libertatea", between the years 1944-1947, the press organ of the P.S.D.R. led by Titel Petrescu. Here we find studies and articles written by a left-wing intellectual, in the spirit of the time. Out of the desire to recover Mircea Florian's philosophical thinking during the communist period, some historians hastened to say that he adhered to Marxist philosophy after August 23, 1944. It is not true, Mircea Florian was not a Marxist philosopher, even if he made, for a short period of time, some compromises, his philosophy is an atific philosophy, i.e. without illusions, without speculations, a philosophy "in re", in things, open to realism and to the adequate understanding of reason and experience which must play the role of a sure foundation of culture. Attic spirit and Atticist, Mircea Florian remains in Romanian culture as one of the most important philosophers from the interwar period, the richest in creative efforts both on a philosophical level and in other fields of Romanian culture.
