The book addresses an extremely interesting topic for the field of Romanian culture - the analysis is made of those rather mythologized characters, made "to embody national ideals and values, beliefs, conceptions and hopes through which a community has imposed itself and differentiated itself from the others, over time". And here it fits very well, in the direction of a research with a rather historical and imagological contribution, characters such as Trajan and Decebal, Negru-Vodă, Dragoș-Vodă, Ștefan cel Mare, Vlad Țepeș, Mihai the Brave, Al.I. Cuza, outlaws, etc. In their allegorical postures, highly valued at the level of the philosophy of culture and cultured literature, characters such as Baba Dochia, Făt-Frumos or Ileana Cosînzeana also have their purpose in this study...
