About this book

Editorial project co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration "Alexandru Teodor Stamatiad (1885-1956) missed his eternity, as shown by Mihai Zamfir, one of his exegetes. The contrast between the success known during his lifetime (he was considered superior to Minulescu and Panait Cerna) and the oblivion that covered him like a shroud for almost a century gives us a lesson in modesty, if not even humility. The poet born in Bucharest on May 9, 1885, descended from the Ghiuculești family (and cousin of the famous painter Theodor Pallady), it was not published since 1942. Then the complete and definitive edition of Cortegiului amintilor appeared, a collection that included, in addition to the four personal volumes of poems, numerous and valuable translations. As Aureliu Goci notes, Stamatiad is not a great creator, he being significant not for his artistic genius, but for the tendencies of his work, which sums up exceptionally, the features of half a century of poetry (the first half of the 20th century)."
