About this book
Ion Zalomit is the first Romanian to defend his doctorate in the West with a thesis dedicated to Kantian philosophy, in 1848. This work, through which Ion Zalomit asserts himself as a precursor of Kantianism in Romanian philosophy, is now published for the first time in Romanian. The principles and merits of Kant's philosophy is the first monograph from us dedicated to the great philosopher, a rare work, necessary for knowing the movement of ideas from the Pashopist period and understanding the process of establishing Romanian philosophical thought. The appearance of this work in Romanian translation, 160 years after its publication in France, represents a fair recognition of the contribution to the establishment of national science by the first professor of philosophy at the University of Bucharest and the first rector of this institution, Ion Zalomit. The work is addressed both to professors, researchers and students in the field of philosophy, as well as to intellectuals interested in knowing the possibilities of Romanian culture and civilization to open up to the modernity of the West and to communicate fruitfully with it.
