Contemporary man continuously multiplies his needs and makes it more and more difficult to satisfy them. He is under the control of the powers of the mechanistic world, as G. Mantzaridis says, destructive powers for personal freedom and at the same time he is threatened by the danger of dehumanization and total disappearance. That is precisely why the Christian vision of life, largely ignored and distorted, is particularly relevant to our age. We therefore see a need for a different approach to life, a life that includes health, illness and healing, from many angles. These three elements can be attributed only to the human body, only the body, or they can be attributed to both the human body and the soul, according to the Christian vision. Only in the second case can one resort to removing man from the boundaries of his created character and his mortal character, in which he is imprisoned by humanistic anthropology, which removes God from the equation in which he exists only biologically. So man's life is not reduced, it is not exhausted at the level of his biological functions, he is not identified with biological existence, but man has body and soul life, because soul and body form a unit and thus man is a person.
