"Without exaggerating anything, Arghezi is the most complex example that illustrates both the crisis of historical Christianity and the search for its solution within his dramatic being living under the power of modern times. The questions of the theologians were also his questions. He too started his aspiration towards faith with a "classical" religious education, acquired late in the decade of his formation, but which remained a constant of his spirituality. As much as he could grow, his faith in God, in Creation, in the truth of the Sacred Books, in the miracle of life that surrounds him never left him, even if these constants of the religious being are interfered by the limits of the natural man who questions, doubts, investigates. In the mentality in which he was formed and sensing his imperfection, his soul burns steadfastly, seeks the saving revelation and senses the limits to which the aspiration towards faith can rise.
