About this book

Excerpt from the book: "At night he met the Fishes. The two guards had weakened him lately because they now had another mission that seemed to concern them more. A sculptor had been entrusted with the mission of carving a statue, this time from a block of stone detached from the rock of the French. The statue seemed to take the form of a creature with both human and fish features. The boy would be said to represent him if it hadn't been downright huge compared to his size - the sculptor was climbing an endless staircase leaning against the block of black stone - and if he hadn't had those sober and rigid features, like a rictus, which did not retain anything of the shaggy and childish air of the original. So that the guards now guarded their statue more than the god (it was also more convenient because the statue did not move), and the gods once walked on the earth. You would have expected them to sink into the waters. On the contrary, they perched somewhere in the sky?"
