The present book (together with the volumes Writers from Dolje and Mehedinți from the Piedmont of Bălăciței, Scrisul Românesc Fundația Editura, Craiova, 2020 and Writers from the South of Doljului, UZPR Publishing House, Bucharest, 2021) constitutes a research effort that aims to place more correctly on the literary map of the country the contribution of the rural area of Doljului (and partly Mehedințiului), sometimes more little highlighted, although it is marked by first-rate personalities of Romanian literature, who are joined by a whole host of writers, critics and literary historians or valuable translators.
