Professor Pănculescu's work represents an important lexicographical contribution in a field of interference between the investigated linguistic areas and the traditional "compartments" of language theory. In the explanations in the Preface, the inventory of excerpted units is lucidly placed in the evolution of the diastratic and diatopic variation of the language, so that the usefulness of the dictionary goes beyond the restrictive labels of popular and Oltenesque, exploring a particularly interesting idiomatic resource for those who want to capture (in reading, analysis or translation) the "spirit" of Romanian.
