Eminescu. Analize din postume

It's hard to talk or write about Eminescu, the one beyond words, the one who can be multiple in one. Commentators are tempted to dwell on the traditionalist, the romantic, the pessimist, the fatalist, the political theorist, the storyteller, the journalist, the philosopher, the economist, the lyric-erotic poet, the nostalgic poet, the poet of cosmogony, the reliable friend of nature, the polemical poet. The biographical element holds their attention, or only the contribution of popular poetry, or the connection with foreign poets and cultures, or the musicality of the lyrics, or the revolutionizing of the old vocabulary and the originality of the themes treated, or the miracle of achieving the communion between fairy tale and high thought. It's honest, useful and deep work. But, unmistakably, partial, inquisitive of only one or a few facets, a telescope pointed at a fragment of the celestial vault, sometimes a microscopic speck. It is material accumulation, research, drilling and preparation. The knowledge of a poet belongs to other zodiac signs and involves other journeys, journeys in countries of mist and incandescence is a work of synthesis, of synthesizing a personality (in the most dramatic sense of the term), of a Work (in its full mysterious and terrible roundness, more even understood by Umberto Eco), it is Adventure and unforgiving love, unceasing faithfulness.
