About this book

The volume reveals a vast research on the ties of Mihai Eminescu, "the complete man of Romanian culture", as the philosopher Constantin Noica called him, with Teleorman county, including distinct chapters on Eminescu's passing through Teleorman (in the years 1866, 1867 and 1868), the poet's ties with Teleormanians from Bucharest (Grigore G. Păucescu, Anghel Demetriescu, Dimitrie Teleor and George Secășanu, during the time he worked at the newspaper "Timpul"), the presence of Teleorman in his poetic work, in his folklore collections and in his vast publicism (which also refers to a whole host of politicians originating from this county), but especially about his admirers and exegetes from Teleorman (from Dimitrie Teleor, at Gala Galaction - as biographers, from Grigore G. Păucescu and Anghel Demetriescu, the first his admirers, in Constantin Noica, George Bălan, Marin Tarangul, George Gană - as famous exegetes in eminesculogy), without leaving aside the appreciation he enjoyed from other exegetes or from a writer of the caliber of Marin Preda, or the way he was honored in Teleorman "at home". In essence, the volume highlights Teleorman's contribution to the establishment of the "Eminescu Heritage", based on a meticulous documentary and bibliographic research, with many new issues and perspectives, being accompanied by a photo-documentary album, with photos and facsimiles that duplicate the information contained therein. Implicitly, the volume is also a contribution to the "Eminescu Bibliography", signaling at the same time not a few aspects to which articles, notes or introducible evocations refer.
