About this book

WORLD ART DIRECTIONS AND TRENDS EXPERIMENTS IN WORLD ART is a critical book on the directions and trends of today's plastic art. Grid Modorcea's latest books are the result of his American experience. Romanian culture is enriched with a new book, from a unique creative experience, which the author lived on American soil, especially in New York, the focus of world art. The book has four large sections, viewed from the perspective of this experience, perhaps with the exception of some texts included in the section dedicated to Romanian plastic art. But the European, American and World sections are perceived through the chain of American galleries. The section dedicated to Romanian plastic art is unusual, it provides the up-to-date pulse of what is happening on the Romanian art market, because the American experience on it was testified in the previous volume, ROMANIAN ARTISTS IN NEW YORK. Everything that Grid Modorcea wrote after 1998, when he visited the United States for the first time, is based on the American experience. It is important to remember what one of the great American cultural figures, the musician Richard Owen, conductor, teacher and organist, founder of the famous "Camerata New York" said about Grid Modorcea: "I was impressed by the volumes HISTORY OF «GEORGE ENESCU» FESTIVAL and THE CRITICAL SPIRIT. In them I came across many musicians, writers and American actors. I also know the book THE AMERICAN FILM, but also his novels about America. I do not know another foreign writer who has written so many pages, books and articles about America like Grid Modorcea. I do not want to upset anyone, but it's possible that we show and remain in history as he sees us. And it's good to follow his courses at the University of Enthusiasm." "I was impressed by the volumes HISTORY OF THE "GEORGE ENESCU" FESTIVAL and CRITICAL SPIRIT. In them I came across many American musicians, writers and actors. I also know the volume FILMUL AMERICAN, but also his novels about America. I don't know another foreign writer who has written as many pages, books and articles about America as Grid Modorcea. I don't want to upset anyone, but it is possible that we look and remain in history as he sees us. And it is good to follow his courses at the University of Enthusiasm, if we want to reach Civitas Innocentiae". No other Romanian writer has left so many traces about America, a land where Romanians found their second home, either in the past, in times of hardship, or today, out of the need for a better life. Many pages in the new volume have a literary imprint, they are diary confessions, reportage. We hope that Romanian painters are sensitive to such a gift, because for those who did not have the chance to see Manhattan and the galleries/museums there, Grid Modorcea's book is like a University. No one has ever made such a gift in the history of Romanian culture.
