Among the French philosophers who influenced Romanian thinking, I. Petrovici mentions: Descartes, Condillac, Lamartine and Montesquieu. The Transylvanian School meant for the Romanians not only the awakening of their national consciousness, but it was also the environment for the penetration of German philosophy through its exponents of that time: Wolff, Krug, Baumeister, Herbart, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Wundt, and later, N.
