About this book

The volume is made up of three philosophical conferences held by Ion Petrovici between 1924, 1933 and 1942, in Romania, France and Germany. Among the French philosophers who influenced Romanian thinking, I. Petrovici mentions: Descartes, Condillac, Lamartine and Montesquieu. French philosophy introduced into Romanian culture the rationalism of the "Enlightenment" through Voltaire, Diderot and Rousseau, passing, then, through the positivist philosophy of Auguste Comte to the great French philosophers of the century. 20th: Boutroux, Bergson, Brunschvicg. In turn, German philosophy also influenced Romanian thinking from the beginning of the century. the nineteenth. Gh. Lazăr introduced Kant to the Romanian school at St. Sava. The Transylvanian School meant for the Romanians not only the awakening of their national consciousness, but it was also the environment for the penetration of German philosophy through its exponents of that time: Wolff, Krug, Baumeister, Herbart, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Wundt, and later, N. Hartmann and M. Heidegger. The two European philosophies contributed to the formation of the autochthonous thought, which once again affirms the Western origins of our culture. Adrian Michiduţă
