About this book

The third volume of the Ion Caraion monograph, the first exhaustive exegesis on the work of one of the great Romanian poets recognized in all European literatures, is a study doubled by a bibliography that sums up over 1000 titles and includes two parts: the first focuses on the reception of the work, and the second deals with the relationship between Ion Caraion and the lost generation of the war. In the first part, the critic from Craiova systematizes nineteen types that make up a complete picture of Caraionian exegesis, and among them, the external reception surprises by highlighting the synchronization of the research with the universal space. We thus learn that Caraion's poetry is received in exile as an expression of true life, as a poetry-testimony, so that the dissociation between the artist and the martyr is impossible. Caraion is one of the great modern poets: Lautreamont, Rilke, Breton, Saint-John Perse, Char, Pound, Michaux, Sandburg, W. Carlos Williams. Aurelian Zisu researches, in the second part, the poetics of the lost generation, involving various methods of great circulation in the world today from the "dehumanization of art", which was theorized by Ortega y Gasset to the semiological methods of Cesare Segre. Caraion is seen as a leader of the generation. To understand Caraion's place in the generation, the author researches the ideological-aesthetic context, the nonconformist spirit, the rediscovery of the avant-garde spirit.
