About this book
The reconstruction of Romanian philosophy aims to highlight a whole series of unknown Romanian philosophers, forgotten or marginalized by the "official theoreticians" of the communist regime. Among the unknown, we mention the bishop of Argeș, Grigore Râmniceanu, translator and creator of Romanian logical terminology, followed by another church face, Eufrosin Poteca, professor of philosophy at Gh. Lazăr School. We also present the jurist Al. Aman, the founder of our legal logic and the illustrious philosopher Ion Zalomit. In the category of the forgotten, we bring to light Ştefan Velovan theoretician of "psychological mechanics", the Christian philosopher Marin Ştefănescu who proposed "prayer" as a method of knowledge in philosophy, but also two other famous philosophers from interwar philosophy, Mircea Djuvara and Mircea Florian. In the category of the marginalized, we have in the foreground Ion Petrovici, Alexandru Mironescu, Sandu Tudor and all those who were labeled as philosophers of "idealist orientation", "reactionaries" or "legionaries" because they promoted a different philosophy and did not make compromises with the communist power. The category of "traitors" included those philosophers who published works in foreign languages (Mircea Eliade, Emil Cioran, Eugeniu Sperantia). Even the philosophers in exile did not escape the proletarian fury. Mircea Eliade, Emil Cioran and Vintilă Horia were discredited, being named legionnaires. For almost 45 years, as long as the communist regime lasted in Romania, we cannot say that we had an authentic philosophy, as it was during the interwar period. The philosophy that was promoted during this time was Marxism-Leninism, that is, dialectical and historical materialism and scientific socialism. Romanian philosophers who created philosophical theories (Nae Ionescu, P. P. Negulescu, I. Petrovici, M. Ştefănescu), or philosophical systems (C. Rădulescu-Motru, Lucian Blaga, Mircea Florian, C. Noica) were purged from Romanian culture. In their place came a whole series of "politruci" headed by Lucreţiu Pătrășcanu, Leonte Răutu, Tudor Bugnariu, C. I. Gulian, Pavel Apostol etc. a, who imposed on us a philosophy alien to the soul of the Romanian people. Completely lacking the freedom of thought, the Romanian philosopher could not exercise freely, without restrictions, his function as a thinker, that is, the purpose given to him by nature.
