About this book

Proceedings of the Conference Rock universe: history, culture, arts, edition I, Craiova, June 7, 2024 Being in an inaugural stage for this edition, the current conference - Rock universe: history, culture, arts - had as its assumed goal a recontextualization and an analysis involving the inherent cultural plurivalence of the phenomenon; In this sense, it was based on two axes of interpretation aimed at highlighting the contexts, myths, influences and actual development of the phenomenon, with the characteristic elements, from clothing and image, to language and reception: Ideas: Paradigmatic axis • The genesis of rock and the early period. Influences and founding myths • A little terminology. The precursors. The guiding ideas. The social-political context Forms of manifestation: Syntagmatic axis • The development of rock. Directions and styles • Clothing. Hairstyle. When rock turns on itself • Romanian postures • Rock poetry • The main cultural icons • The reaction of the establishment: the conflict with the state, with the army and with the church • After the Fact: What remains in the cultural context, after the decanting of the revolt So built according to these integrative premises, but without totalizing claims, the conference proposed the unveiling of a complex, varied musical landscape and phenomenon, with multiple adjacent themes subsumable to the rock universe in order to be able to offer a most faithful and culturally exciting image of an emblematic and fluid style, in continuous development thanks to the emergence of new subgenres. Paying tribute to this democratic idea, as is the genre under analysis, we encouraged the participants to advance among the most diverse proposals, starting from the two above-mentioned axes, with the hope that the versatility and cultural effervescence of the phenomenon will have attracted as many people as possible for discussions (formal and informal) focused on a musical genre that has delighted us in all stages of life. Teachers, PhD students, researchers (affiliated or unaffiliated), writers, artists were invited to participate in the conference, and what you now have in front of you is the fruit of this collective effort.
