UTOPIA SAU CRIZA IMAGINARULUI

Jean-Jacques Wunenburger is professor emeritus at the Université "Jean Moulin", Lyon 3, doctor honoris causa of the University of Craiova, disciple of Gilbert Durand, founder of the Center "Gaston Bachelard" at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon, the initiator of several research centers of the imaginary in Europe, America and Asia, president of the "Association des Amis de Gilbert Durand", president of CRI2i. Jean-Jacques Wunenburger is one of those postmodern philosophers who, along the lines of the founding fathers of the notion of the imaginary (Gaston Bachelard, Gilbert Durand, Henry Corbin and Mircea Eliade), open a new perspective in the understanding of figurative thinking today. Why does the emergence and development of utopian thinking represent a crisis of the imaginary? Contrary to the effervescence of utopian productions from the period of the Western youth revolts of the 60s and the American counter-culture, this early work by Professor Jean-Jacques Wunenburger investigates with philosophical rigor both the origins of utopia and the reductionism of the "progressive" ideological fictions of the utopias responsible for the totalitarianisms of the 20th century.
