About this book

Meckel's diverticulum is an anomaly of the digestive tube which, through its rich pathology, causes conditions frequently encountered in practice in Pediatric Surgery clinics and beyond. This monograph completes the concerns of the Pediatric Surgery and Pathological Anatomy Clinic in Craiova, which began several years ago, by carrying out a multicenter study, at the national level, related to the pathology of Meckel's diverticulum. The results of the study were later communicated at numerous prestigious national and international scientific events (XlXth Romanian Congress of Surgery (18-20 May Bucharest) and 55th Congress of the French Society of Pediatric Surgery, constituting at the same time the topic of a doctoral thesis. The present work comes to detail current data from the world literature related to Meckel's diverticulum, through elements of epidemiology, embryology, clinic, anatomy pathological as well as the elaboration of the therapeutic strategy in the face of Meckel's diverticulum discovered by chance or on the occasion of some complications. The monograph is addressed to pediatric surgeons, paediatricians, anatomopathologists, radiologists and last but not least to general surgeons, trying to constitute a practice guide in the face of this pathology.
